Realme GT 8 Pro Introduction

Design and Display

The Realme GT8 Pro introduces a unique detachable camera housing held in place with two Torx screws allowing users to swap designs. Realme offers four pre-made styles — Functional Robot, Classic Round, Square with metal porthole, and Transparent Rubik’s Cube. For enthusiasts, a 3MF file is available for 3D printing custom designs. The phone comes in three colors: White with AG frosted glass, and Blue and Green with recycled paper-like leather, which Realme claims is eco-friendly, wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant. The device measures 161.8 × 76.87 × 8.2mm for White and 8.3mm for Blue and Green, weighing 214g to 218g, and carries IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water protection.

The display is a 6.79-inch 2K OLED panel with 1440 × 3136 resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and hardware-level DC dimming going as low as 1nit for dark environments. Peak brightness reaches 7,000 nits with 4,000 nits under direct sunlight. Touch response is extremely fast, with 3,200Hz instantaneous sampling and 360Hz four-finger sampling. The OLED display supports 10bit and 12bit color production, HDR and HBM, delivering vivid colors and high visibility even under bright light.

Performance, Software and AI

The GT8 Pro runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with Adreno 840 GPU and Realme R1 graphics chip. The device can be configured with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.1 storage. The UFS 4.1 storage ensures faster read and write speeds compared to previous generation, while the R1 graphics chip supports super-frame and super-resolution in over 100 games. The phone handles 2K gaming at 120fps in open-world titles and native 144Hz in popular shooters. A 7,000mm² Ultra-Coverage Cold Front vapor chamber cooling system keeps the device temperature under control during long gaming sessions.

On the software front, Realme GT 8 Pro ships with Android 16 and Realme UI 7.0. It offers AI features such as Circle to Search, AI live call translation, AI summary of recordings, AI Image Enhancement, AI Image Expansion, AI Magic Eraser Pro and AI Sky Replacement. The Sky Communication System with the S1 chip improves 5G connectivity by 25% across 21 global bands. Realme has also optimized performance for multitasking and intensive apps, keeping the interface smooth and responsive.

The device undergoes rigorous performance testing. The device surpassed an AnTuTu score of 3.99 millions because of Realme’s configuration with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, high RAM, fast storage, and R1 chip. However, the throttling test did not perform well on this new chipset , as it throttled a lot.

Camera

The Realme GT 8 Pro features a triple rear camera system with a 50MP main sensor co-developed with Ricoh, a 200MP periscope telephoto sensor and a 50MP ultrawide sensor. The main 50MP camera has a 1/1.56-inch sensor with f/1.8 aperture and OIS. Its Ricoh GR lens reduces glare and distortion while improving sharpness. A dedicated Ricoh GR mode offers fast startup, signature shutter sound and five classic Ricoh tones with customizable parameters for photography enthusiasts.

The 200MP periscope telephoto sensor has a 1/1.4-inch Samsung HP5 sensor, f/2.6 aperture, dual-axis OIS, 3x optical zoom, 6x lossless zoom and hybrid zoom up to 120x. It supports True 200MP Mode with multi-frame fusion for ultra-clear photos and 8K ultra-HD video recording at 30fps. The 50MP ultrawide sensor has f/2.0 aperture and 116-degree field of view. Up front, the device has a 32MP selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture capable of 8K video. Dual 1115E symmetrical speakers with N’Bass provide excellent audio while shooting video or gaming.

Battery and Other Features

The GT8 Pro houses a 7,000mAh second-generation Titan battery split between two silicon-carbon cells. It supports 120W wired and 50W wireless charging, reaching 50% charge in 15 minutes with wireless and full charge under 45 minutes wired. Dual cells provide longer lifespan and stable power output. Realme claims measured active use score supports extended usage without rapid drain.

Additional features include in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, NFC, infrared sensor, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, USB Type-C, multiple satellite navigation systems including Beidou, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and QZSS. IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings ensure dust and water resistance. The phone supports dual 4G VoLTE, 5G SA/NSA and Sky Communication System with S1 chip for improved connectivity.
