The OnePlus 15 marks a major leap for OnePlus as it enters the flagship ring with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and a stunning 1.5K 165Hz display. With the smartphone market heating up and competitors pushing AI features, the OnePlus 15 stands out by combining AI, performance and battery life while also integrating high-end design and durability. If you’ve been hunting for a phone that checks gaming, the camera, the display and endurance boxes, this might be the one.
OnePlus 15 Introduction
Design and Display
The OnePlus 15 uses a refined glass front protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, an aluminum alloy frame and either a glass back (Gorilla Glass 7i or Crystal Shield) or a fibre-reinforced plastic back depending on the colour-choice. Dimensions are 161.4 × 76.7 × 8.1 mm and weight lies in the 211-215 g range making it substantial yet still manageable in hand. It offers full triple-SIM flexibility (Nano-SIM + Nano-SIM + eSIM) or dual Nano-SIM in some configurations and boasts top-class durability ratings of IP68 and IP69K for dust tight and water resistant performance including high-pressure water jets.
Colour options listed include Infinite Black, Ultra Violet and Sand Storm giving a mix of classic dark and bold statement finishes. The Sand Storm variant even uses micro-arc oxidation (MAO) for improved frame toughness and a unique look and feel.
On the display front, the OnePlus 15 shines here. It has got a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel showing 1.5K resolution at 1272 × 2772 pixels (~450 ppi) and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. However,in OnePlus 13, it had a 2K display. It supports 1 billion colours, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and a peak brightness around 1800 nits in HBM mode (typical 800 nits) which makes it highly visible even under bright sunlight. The refresh rate is adaptive up to 1Hz to 165Hz making scrolling ultra-smooth and reducing motion blur in gaming or UI transitions. With the LTPO backplane, the display can automatically drop down to lower refresh rates for battery savings. The screen-to-body ratio is around 90.8% offering immersive visuals. All these display and design features frame the OnePlus 15 as a flagship designed not just for everyday use but also for durability and premium feel.
Performance, Software and AI
Under the hood, the OnePlus 15 possesses the latest Qualcomm SM8850-AC Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3nm process) flagship CPU featuring an octa-core setup (2×4.6 GHz Oryon V3 Phoenix L + 6×3.62 GHz Oryon V3 Phoenix M) and Adreno 840 GPU. It also has two other custom chipsets installed specially for WiFi connectivity and touch response. Yeah, touch response is up to 3200Hz. It ships with Android 16 in the form of ColorOS 16 (or OxygenOS depending on region) and supports LPDDR5X ultra/ultra+ RAM and UFS 4.1 storage with configs ranging up to 1TB storage and 16GB RAM. This is the first phone that goes beyond 4 million of AnTuTu score.
Software-wise, OnePlus promises a refined UI experience with features such as advanced cooling systems, system optimizations and AI enhancements. Updates will be provided are 4 years of major Android upgrade and 6 years of security patches updates. At least,6 years of both updates would be much better. The device reportedly includes a “Plus Mind” button for quick access to personalized routines and a lot of AI features.
OnePlus 15 Camera
The OnePlus 15’s camera system is a triple-lens rear array each at 50 MP. The main sensor is 50 MP f/1.8 wide (24mm equivalent, 1/1.56″, 1.0µm pixels) with multi-directional PDAF and OIS. This is complemented by a 50 MP f/2.8 periscope telephoto (80mm equivalent, 3.5× optical zoom, 1/2.76″ sensor, 0.64µm pixels) and a 50 MP f/2.0 ultrawide (16mm equivalent, 116° field-of-view, 1/2.88″ sensor, 0.61µm pixels). The camera features laser focus, colour spectrum sensor, LED flash, HDR panorama and LUT preview for live colour grading. Video capabilities include 8K@30fps, 4K@30/60/120fps, 1080p@30/60/240fps with Auto HDR, gyro-EIS and Dolby Vision support. On the front the selfie camera is 32 MP f/2.4 (21mm equivalent, 1/2.74″, 0.8µm) with AF, HDR, panorama and 4K@30/60fps or 1080p@30/60fps. I don’t know why, but all of those lenses have been kept narrower than previous OnePlus 13 ‘s camera lenses. I think, it is due to the addition of the two other new brand-new chipsets and end of Hasselblad collaboration.
In practice, photo output will depend on processing engine and OnePlus’ brand-new DetailMax engine (replacing previous Hasselblad collaboration) indicates a push toward more realistic colour and depth rather than over-processed look. All in all, the OnePlus 15 camera setup offers premium versatility in stills and video.
Battery and Other Features
Battery capacity on the OnePlus 15 stands at 7,300 mAh (silicon-carbon dual-cell) which is among the largest in its class. Charging includes 120 W wired (varies by region) plus 55 W/PPS, 36 W PD or QC support, 50 W wireless, 10 W reverse wireless and 5 W reverse wired. OnePlus claims 50% in around 15 minutes and full charge in about 40 minutes under ideal conditions. While measured test results are still limited recent reports claim up to 19 hours of video playback, 6.6 hours of intensive gaming at 165fps and 12 hours of continuous navigation. Other features include under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, NFC, IR blaster, USB-C 3.2 (OTG), WiFi 6/7, Bluetooth 6.0 with aptX HD/Adaptive/LHDC 5, GPS (multi-band including L1+L5, NavIC), stereo speakers (Hi-Res 24-bit/192kHz audio) and the absence of a 3.5mm jack. SAR ratings are head 1.17 W/kg and body 1.00 W/kg. SIM configuration is Nano-SIM + Nano-SIM + eSIM (max 2 active). There is no microSD slot.
The presence of IR blaster is a rare feature among flagships and adds a layer of utility for remote control usage. Waterproofing at IP68/IP69K further boosts confidence in everyday use in more demanding conditions. All these features position the OnePlus 15 as a fully-equipped flagship from battery to connectivity.
